Narada :
Narada was a rishi to whom some hymns of the Rig Veda are ascribed . He plays a narad11subsidiary but very important role in numerous religious scriptures . According to Mahabharata, Narada was the son of Kashyapa and his mother was one of the daughters of Daksha . Another account says that he sprang from the forehead of Brahma. Narada is shown as a wandering seer going from one place to another . He is reputed to have invented the Veena, a musical instrument and is deemed to be the leader of celestial musicians . He is famous as a mischief -maker and his name is taken as a symbol of a person who is always creating some type of light mischief for Gods and Goddesses . His constant chanting of Narayana, Narayana is very familiar . An interesting story is told about Narada . He once betrayed a desire for worldly pleasures and in consequence had
to take birth in this mortal world as a woman . He is said to have given birth to sixty children and the Hindu cycle of sixty years is said to have had its origin from those children . It is believed that the twelve signs of the Zodiac represent twelve planets in the solar system . These planets and centres of consciousness are in the mighty cosmic deity or intelligence called Kalapurusha . In fact, the planets are said to be his head, face, breast, belly, navel, abdomen, genitals, teeth, eyes, knees, ankles and feet . He has a lute in one hand and a pointed knotted tuft of hair in the center of the otherwise clean- shaven scalp . Narad muni is known more names as :Narada has the appellations, Kali-kararak (meaning strife-maker) , Kapi-vaktra (monkey-faced) , and Pisuna (messenger of spy).
